R.I.P. Talina!

Yesterday was our friend Talina's two year memorial! Unfortunately we weren't able to make it due to a hectic schedule. For those of you who are new to our blog and are not familiar, Talina was our good friend, a contributer, and a big part of HIDS. We wanted to take the time to just say that she was a great inspiration to HIDS and still continues to inspire us even though she is no longer with us. We still miss Talina and will never forget her.

Happy Birthday Talina! We Miss You!

Today is the 19th birthday of our long time friend Talina Mary Saegh, unfortunately she is not here to celebrate with us because she committed suicide on September 7, 2009. We miss her very much and we are still celebrating her birthday. For those that didn't know her, she was way cool, artisctic, a great photographer, and the list can go on and on! There is an official tribute page to Talina on facebook so go search her name Talina Mary Saegh And check that out. There is going to be a gathering today, check it out. (Details Below) We can't stress enough how awesome she was and it really sucks that she is not here now but we are sure that were ever she is, she is happy.

Talina's birthday is May 6th... we were thinking of gathering everyone that day around 2 for cake and a mini celebration at the cemetery in chatsworth. We would like to sit around and remember Talina on this special day and we can't do it alone. Well, we can but Talina would have LOVED everyone who loved and cared for her to be there in one place. So join us. Feel free to bring a friend... positive and warm vibes are welcome. We will have coffee, tea, and a birthday cake for Talina.

R.I.P. GURU!

Keith Elam (July 17, 1966 – April 19, 2010), better known by his stage name Guru, was an American rapper and member of the hip-hop duo Gangstarr. He was born in the Boston neighborhood of Roxbury. The name Guru is a backronym that stands for "Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal" and the less often used "God is Universal; he is the Ruler Universal", which are both references to the teachings of the Nation of Gods and Earths.On February 28, 2010, Guru went into cardiac arrest and, following surgery, fell into a coma. He woke from the coma but died on April 19, 2010, after a long battle with cancer. He was a great rapper and will be missed by all of us down at Heavy In Da Streets!
