"DIY-ing To Live" FREE DOWNLOADABLE COMPILATION!

It's finally done! The DIY-ing to live compilation is now available for free download. Do us a favor and share this with your homies on your Facebook, twitter, myspace or whatever it is you use. The main purpose of this compilation is to spread the word that there is still some very good music out there that sticks to the DIY(Do It Yourself) method. The bands included come from very different places but they all share a common goal which is keeping DIY ethics alive through the music they make. The bands involved are S.I.D.S.(Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), Anti-Venöm, Cash for an 8 Ball, Lo-Ca$h Ninjas, Illegal Action, No Cops For Miles, Animals We Trap, Radical Nobody, Homosexual Patriot, and Jesus Buys Heroin. "DIYing to Live" Compilation in the Works!

Firstly, you may have noticed but we rarely update our page and that's due mainly to lack of motivation. It's unfortunate and it may continue to remain this way but that doesn't mean you shouldn't visit our site every now and then. On the other hand, you may have heard or maybe you haven't but we are currently working on a compilation that will consist of DIY ska/punk bands and some underground hip hop artists. The title of the compilation will be called "DIYing to Live" and like our previous compilation we put out with the help of our friend Ernie Sosa of No Cops for Miles, this compilation will focus on the celebration of DIY music. You can expect some new bands/hip-hop artists and some from the previous compilation. As of this moment we have no idea when exactly this will be finished but you can definitely expect this to be a free download. "No Cops For Miles" New Album In The Works!

Thats right! After a three year intermission from their last album "Options", No Cops For Miles is currently working on an undisclosed album. At this moment we cant say much other than to expect some demos in the near future and to help spread the word about No Cops For Miles. All their previous material is available for free download online and on youtube. Gone Postal Vol.1 (FREE DOWNLOADABLE COMPILATION)

We been busy as fuck and neglecting the shit out of Heavy In Da Streets. Fortunately we were able to put this compilation together with the help of our close friend Ernie Sosa of No Cops For Miles. The compilation is entitled "Gone Postal" which is slang for becoming extremely and uncontrollably angry, often to the point of violence. It consists of 14 tracks from genres such as folk-punk, ska-punk, and hip hop. The idea of this free downloadable compilation is to show our anger at the shitty mainstream music industry and celebrating the D.I.Y.(Do it Yourself) culture. The Compilation consists of No Cops For Miles, the Kid Macias, Status the Shokwave, Screw You and the Four Chords, Jesus Buys Heroin, Homosexual Patriot, Zkapatistas, and Hello Apathy. We would like to thank all the bands and people who helped contribute to the compilation. As far as the future of H.I.D.S. goes, who knows and who gives a shit. This might be our last major project or it might not. There could be a Vol.2 to this compilation but that all depends on the reception we get from Vol.1. A Little More Info on Our Up & Coming Zine!

This is our last information on the progress and information about our zine. First of all, what is a zine? Wikipedia states "A zine is most commonly a small circulation publication of original or appropriated texts and images. More broadly, the term encompasses any self-published work of minority interest usually reproduced via photocopier." As to what will be on our zine, you can expect some anti-authoritarian articles or pictures, skate photos, artwork from some good folks, skateboarding photos, an interview with DIY ska-punk band "NO COPS FOR MILES", an interview with up coming skater Tislam Smith, and other random stuff. The Zine is dedicated to our good friend Talina Mary Saegh who unfortunately took her life not too long ago. The primary intention of this publication is not profit. So, yes it will be 100% FREE. If you want to help out, here is how you can. You can donate money that will help pay for ink cartridges & paper or even if you have your own photocopier/printer, you can help us out with the printing. The print will be in Black & white only. If you have no money, you can donate artwork, your writings and advertisements. You can also help by spreading the word to your friends on facebook and what not. So if you want to help us out in anyway you can, even as a distributer, you can email us at heavyindastreets@gmail.com Anybody who helps out will of course be credited on the zine itself. As far as the release date expect it to be done by late July or early August.

Heavy In Da Streets: Zine Issue #1 Coming Soon!

Yeah, you heard it! We are working on a Zine. This zine will mainly focus on skateboarding, music, Art, DIY projects, anarchism, and other random things. Even if you guys are not anarchists you can still check out the zine. We will not impose our anarchistic views on you. If you guys have anything to contribute to our zine we would love to help add your art, writings, photos, etc.... to our zine. We will also accept and appreciate any donations because our blog makes no money and it is going to be a bitch printing out our zine. But even if we get no donations we will manage to get these printed even if it means having to scam the giant corporate printing places. As far as the release date, we think it will be ready sometime in August. The zine will be free of charge. We will only be accepting donations but even then it is not a requirement. So stay updated with us and help us keep that DIY ethic alive!
